New Records Set at WPIAL Swimming Champs
The Swimming portion of the 2020 WPIAL Swim and Dive Championships kicked off with the Girls 200 Medley Relay of Ria Dietz, Edie Sawyer, Julia Listwak, Kendall Craig finishing 4th and setting a new SV School record. Next to make the podium was the Boys 200 Medley Relay of Owen Blazer, Haihan Xu, Daniel Simoes, Max Skeen who finished 2nd, setting a new school record in a All American consideration time.
Kevin Donaldson placed 3rd in the 200 Free and 5th in the 100 Free. Kendal Craig placed 3rd in the 200 IM with an All American Consideration time, and 6th in the 100 Free. Daniel Simoes placed 3rd in the 200 IM with a new School Record and 5th in the 100 Fly. Julia listwak finished 7th in the 100 Fly. Ria Dietz placed 8th in the 100 Back. Edie Sawyer placed 6th in the 100 Breaststroke. Haihan Xu medaled twice with an 8th place finish in the 200 IM and 6th in the 100 Breaststroke.
Owen Blazer took double golds with 2 first place finishes in the 100 Fly and 100 Back, both of which were All American times. He is currently ranked 1st in the state in the 100 Back, which he set a new WPIAL record!
The Boys 200 Free relay of Max Skeen, Zach Lozowski, Gavin Blazer, Kevin Donaldson finished in 8th place.
The Girls 400 Free relay of Julia Listwak,
Bella Stefanowicz, Annabel Morrisard, Kendall Craig finished in 7th place.
The meet concluded with the Boys 400 Free relay of Kevin Donaldson, Daniel Simoes, Max Skeen, Owen Blazer placing 2nd setting new School record and earning All American Consideration.
When the water settled and meet was over, the Seneca Valley girls placed 4th overall and the Boys took home the WPIAL Runner Up trophy!
Seneca Valley will send 5 Girls and 9 Boys to the PIAA State Championship next week at Bucknell University.
