Girls Sweep, Boys Split at Tri-Meet

The SV Raider Girls team won against both of their worthy opponents, while the Raider Boys team beat Cannon Macmillan but lost to Upper St. Clair in their first loss of the season. SV swimmers and divers secured another 7 individual WPIAL cuts, bringing the team total to 29 WPIAL-qualifying swimmers with 60 cuts!

Final Scores - Girls: SV 103.5 pts vs. Upper St. Clair 82.5 pts ~ SV 148 pts vs. Cannon Macmillan 37 pts.
Final Scores - Boys: SV 75 pts vs. Upper St. Clair 110 pts, ~ SV 118 pts vs. Cannon Macmillan 62 pts.

SV Boys hold a 4-1 season record to date while the Girls remain undefeated at 5-0. The Raiders take on Bethel Park away on Thursday, January 10th; their next home meet is on Monday, January 14th against Pine Richland.

Senior Katelyn Caccamo and Junior Meghan Keppler took 1st and 4th place, contributing to the girls’ win. SV boys also did well, with Sophomores Matt Laslavic and Trevor Elliott and Freshman Sam Skeen took 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place with their 6 dives.

GIRLS

SV Girls captured 1st and 3rd place in the 200 Medley Relay. Sophomores Kendall Craig & Edie Sawyer and Senior Katie Clark cleaned up in the 200 Individual Medley, taking 1st, 2nd, & 4th. Then Sophomore Annabel Morrisard and Senior Alyvia Meanor took 2nd & 3rd place in the 50 Yard Freestyle followed by Freshman Ria Dietz and Alyvia Meanor again in the 100 Butterfly (3rd & 5th place) with strong support from Kristen Bedell & Sydney Sweger in the 50 Free and Gianna Petrella, Maya Dietz, & Dilini Ranaweera in the 100 Fly.

Kendall Craig decimated the 100 Free with her 1st place finish, with Sophomore Annabel Morrisard and Junior Julia Listwak not far behind at 2nd & 4th. Then Junior Taylor Schoeffel, Bella Stefanowicz, and Abby Perry repeated their excellent season of 500 Freestyle swims by going 3-4-5 in that tough race, with backup from Emma Kreber, Emily Tekelenburg, and Delaney Molinero. Then the boys 200 Free Relay team of Owen Blazer-Max Bredl-Danny Simoes-Kevin Donaldson took 2nd place in a thrilling race that had them in the lead until the last few yards when they got out-touched at the wall (still a great race, guys!). This event was a Tale of Two Owens, as the relay team of Owen Tekelenburg-Matt Stevens-Connor Anderson-Sam Skeen battled hard as well. Owen Blazer, Jonny Simoes, and Max Bredl captured 2nd, 4th, and 5th place in the 100 Backstroke, while Zach Lozowski took 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke.
