Homecoming Parade

The Swim and Dive team participated in this year's Seneca Valley Homecoming parade and carnival.  The theme of this year's Homecoming was "Enchanted Garden".  Various school clubs and organizations participated by decorating floats and running carnival booths. Last year's Homecoming festivities were cancelled but the team picked up where they left off by being named the best float for the third time in a row.

The seniors met early in September and shared their ideas for the float.  To make their ideas come to life, returning team members met at the Bedell Farm on September 19th to build, paint, and assemble the float.  We had a great turnout on a beautiful fall day and the kids (and parents) had everything built in four hours.  Once the float was transported to the school, some finishing touches were put on and we were ready to go.

The senior girls wore white dresses with leaf crowns while the senior boys wore jeans, white shirts, and leaf crowns.  The seniors rode in the back of the pickup truck during the parade.  The underclassman rode in the trailer with the girls wearing fairy wings and the boys wearing plaid shirts, gnome hats, and white beards.

Thank you to all the parents who helped assemble the float.  Hopefully memories were made and the team enjoyed their time together.  A special "thank you" to Anissa Tekelenburg who led the committee, Bill Hockenberry for transporting the float (and his cardboard cutting expertise), and the Bedell family for letting us all descend upon their farm to build the float.
